Wedding Reception

24th September, 6.30pm to 1.30am
The Museum of Garden History
Lambeth Palace Road, SE1 7LB

Why here?

Living in a second floor flat in Streatham has fuelled our passion for gardening. And Titchmarsh is our hero.

OK that's a lie, it's simply a great venue in an interesting spot next to the Thames.

What's it like?

It's a deconsecrated church. We'll be having dining tables where the pews used to be and a DJ booth instead of the altar. Have a look at their website to get more of a sense of what it's all about.

Anything I need to know?

No smoking is allowed in the building but you are allowed to smoke in the garden. If you are a smoker, bring an umbrella just in case!

Despite all the cars parked in front of the building in the photo on the left, there is no parking on site and parking in the streets around the venue is limited. Most of the big hotels south of the river have some parking for guests but they seem to charge extra for this. Again, we recommend using public transport or taxis.

Champagne and canapés will be served on arrival and we should sit down to dinner shortly after 7pm. There is a free bar all night.

How do I get there?

If you want to go by tube and taxi, there are always taxis at Waterloo station. Alternatively, you can walk from any of the following tube/rail stations.

From Vauxhall tube and rail , come out of station facing the Thames and turn right, going over a footbridge. You will quickly pass a motorcycle shop, various other shops and eventually pass a petrol station. Keep going until you get to the next bridge (DON'T CROSS IT!) where you should see Lambeth Palace and the Museum of Garden History ahead of you.

From Westminster tube , simply walk over Westminster Bridge, next to Big Ben. When you cross the bridge, on the left hand side, next to the London Eye and County Hall, there is a set of steps taking you down to the riverside pathway. Go down these steps and turn right, taking you under the bridge and along the path. This leads straight to Lambeth palace and the Museum of Garden History. This is a really scenic route with great views of the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye.

From Waterloo tube and rail , follow the signs in the station for the London Eye. When you get to the Thames, turn left and follow the river path in front of St Thomas's Hospital until you get to Lambeth Palace and the museum.

How do I get home/back to my hotel?

The hotels we have recommended are in easy walking distance from the venue. However, some of you live in London and will want to get home and we expect some others will be in no state to walk to their hotels so here are some cab numbers.
